Space & Defense is a journal for scholarly articles and essays on how the pioneering of space, at altitudes ranging between 100 miles and 23,000 miles above the Earth’s surface, is changing approaches to national security, international political economy, and international relations.  As readers will note from the names appearing on our front pages, we have assembled the best board of referees—highly qualified to edit articles on both space operations and international politics—from the worlds of industry, government, and academia.

Articles for peer review should run approximately 8000 words + footnotes.  Detailed instructions for formatting appear on the last page of each issue, and all of our issues may be accessed at  In addition, the full text of recent contributions is searchable through the scholarly database, EBSCOHost.
